DEFRAKT was founded in 2004 by Ole Kleinen (guitars) and Sebastian Klimmek (guitars). In the following years the two set the basis of DEFRAKTs progressive aproach. This periode was characterized by a lot of tweaking, redefining, improving and erasing. In 2008 David Voigt (Storm of Sorrows) joined on drums.

In late 2009 a vocalist was found. With Artur the line-up is now complete.

The launch of DEFRAKTs myspace-site and the associated recording of the bands first release "Become" provided access to a larger circle of potential bandmembers. On this way Jan Petzold (bass) joined the band. Ultimately DEFRAKTs style boiled down to what it is now:
 A non compromise polyrhythmic proaggressive interpretation of what metal should be.

Ron (BURIED IN BLACK) appears on DEFRAKTs available Track "Become" as a session member.

The band members are currently in the process of writing material for their debut production.
